I set up a monthly donation and really encourage others to as well. Bolts has not only taught me so much about races I didn't even know existed, but bolstered my hopes for progress by showing smaller, community-level victories across the US.
We have set a goal of raising $60,000 in reader donations by the end of the year.

NewsMatch is currently doubling all contributions, and multiplying new monthly donations by twelve!

Donate today and help us get there: boltsmag.org/donate-...
Support Bolts
We are a nonprofit publication that covers the nuts and bolts of political change, from the local up, and we need reader support to build our journalism.

Voting didn't beat Hitler. Liberalism can not defeat fascism. Their weapons fundamentally do not work. Politicians will not save us. We have to liberate ourselves. Don't give in to defeatism. Get Organized. Watch each other's backs. Lets get to work

A reminder ⚠️

If you vote against the human rights of those around you

you wont be allowed to just keep living and pretend everything is fine

you are an outcast, permanently

to all the communities/subcultures/etc. out there, I strongly urge you to make sure that there is no place for these people

well, everybody, this is going to suck, but we’re going to follow the blueprint of every monster movie with a 2 in the title: take a little time to disbelieve that this is happening again, then use what we learned last time to fight hard, protect each other, and survive for as long as we can.

no matter the outcome of this election: organize, build local community, build strength in masses. elections aren't the only time politics happen, it also happens on the streets, in the community and by mutually supporting each other.

An AP call in Connecticut: Voters have approved a ballot measure to allow no-excuse mail voting, an option that the state somehow still doesn't have.

Kelan Lyons explained the importance of this here:

Voters will decide on a ballot initiative that would set the stage to let everyone vote by mail without an excuse—an option that could expand access for voters with disabilities.

RESULT: Pamela Goodwine wins Kentucky's supreme court race.

Goodwine was the candidate backed by Dems in this nonpartisan race; she defeats the candidate backed by conservatives. (This was not statewide.)

Retiring justice was conservative, so this takes the court a step left.

My dream job would be a researcher for a YouTube channel or podcast. I am so good at finding information. I once found a student film from a Maine college in the 90’s based off a friend saying they saw it at a VHS rental store. I actually gave a copy to the director of the film, who didn’t have it.

I feel like if more people were hip to how hot and sexy and cool pre-Hayes code movies were, people would have a better understanding of how progress is often ripped back and we can't rebound until much later (the 1970s).
