Powell River is hella nice. We’ve seen as many as 5 humpbacks at a time playing a few hundred yards from shore for 4 days straight. Plus, everyone we pass says hello and it’s very walkable. We’ll be back.

It’s beyond tragic. It’s systemic. As cycling numbers increase, we cannot accept the status quo of cyclist deaths.

It is on all levels of government to build systems, regulations, and roads that reach Vision Zero.

We’re still very far from that vision.

Camping Canada Day Long Weekend. It’s a thing. Waking up at the break of dawn to the low hum of a ferry passing by and birds chattering above my tent. I love Ruckle Park.

One reason I think it’s important to continue to highlight the disparity on our streets is that most people just don’t see it.

Despite it being obvious to some, so many people don't have clarity because we have done such an incredible job of normalizing this imbalance.

Our living room is north facing and does not get direct sunlight but I love how the sun’s reflected off the condos downtown and onto our walls.

Folks from all over are starting to appreciate our biking infrastructure.
My parents are visiting from Missouri, and we went to Victoria for a nice vacation together. But because I have a severe case of bicycle brain, here’s a picture I took of a protected intersection where they added bike parking between the bike lane and the turn lane.

To celebrate the start of Langford’s micromobility program, I took one of the new Evolve e-bikes on an adventure. This is Langford to Victoria and back by way of the E&N and the Galloping Goose. This 30km trip is almost all trail & protected bike lane.

It’s beautiful, it’s safe & it feels amazing.

I live in an apartment on the edge of downtown surrounded by a cluster of 4 storey buildings. Grateful for the healthy and effective urban tree canopy.

This is simply one of the most thoughtful and nuanced explanations of the role that cycling infrastructure plays in Black and Brown communities. Definitely worth a read.

When I started Oonee I was shocked to see so many pols treat 🔒🚲 as 2nd tier issue. That was not my experience growing up in BK.

Leaving a bike on the sidewalk overnight or while at work often results in a missing tire or gearset, but for most of us, it’s only a matter of time until the entire frame disappears.
