I think it’s really interesting how many of the DEI comments made by the administration are about disability and the headline says DEI and folks here assume it’s a comment about race.

Disabled people DID NOT cause the tragic plane crash on the Potomac.
Hiring people from diverse backgrounds does not cause tragedy.
Recognizing the diversity of humanity does not cause tragedy.

I don’t know who needs to hear this today, but going to the gym to train is not resistance. Karate is not resistance.
Organize in your community. Take care of people. Do the hard work of making sure people have what they need to survive. Do it through organizations that are already there.

And the things we are asked to do are always the very things that we need support with.

I am a DEI hire. I’m a queer, disabled, neurodivergent woman. And you know what? I make my team better. Just like every other person that walks through the world who isn’t a straight, white man. Our experiences matter and they make us better.

Wrapped up this first week of clickety clacking while the US goes to shit. Does that feel like an accomplishment? Yes & no. I’m hoping that means I can keep a roof over my head while I continue to fight for other people to keep their lives. I know we’re tired, but the real work is just beginning. ✊🏻
