Old school Warhammerer remembrancer. Geek and fanboy going way back. Will often say "back in the day".
Mostly here for hobby posts and to support friends.
Is the same @TheJohnnyZed from Twitter.
Member of the #Nerdlings miniatures hobby community.

My name's John, and over 40 years(ish) of miniatures hobby, I'm STILL horrible at getting anything finished up, but I still love the hobby and the inspiration I get from others (that often leads me to having Way Too Many Projects Going At Once). I'll often include "back in the day" in sentences.
Getting up in the morning is gonna burn... but all the subassemblies are pretty much done at least.

One. Arm. One. Damn. Arm.

It's good knight from me.

(Yes, I did watch the Doctor Who season ender, why do you ask?)

The one kind of crypto I can get behind; a pair of necron cryptothralls.

So #WarhammerCommunity posted an article celebrating the history of Land Raiders, and I figured that sharing these venerable pre-millenial efforts of mine would be appropriate. A 1st gen Land Raider and Predator from my second homebrew chapter, and an Epic scale Emperor's Children one.

Right then, just need the base done and any egregious goofs i spot and done. Like how this Iron Hands terminator captain from the Leviathan job is working out.

Applying transfers is annoying.

More progress on my Iron Hands terminator captain.

Pulling a stalled project off the bench and started working on it again. The perils of watching a live stream battle report for one of the factions I have in progress.

Coming in at the 11th hour, but some stuff I've been working on for the #WarhammerChallenge

(The rumors of my devolving into chaos spawn are much exaggerated)

If you're playing a Spyrer gang in Necromunda, and it's led by an Orrus that gets seduced by the draw of chaos, is that the Orrus 'Eresy?

Been a while since I felt I had anything shareworthy, but this WIP glamour shot of a knight armiger felt like it needed to be shared.

Oh hey, I found a thing when I was going through my storage.
Apparently once upon a time I made the grade (okay, the BRONZE grade, but still...)

It's OLD street cred, but I'm happy to have earned it.

So I hear Eldar are back in vogue again... do these count?
November 26, 2024 at 9:26 AM
To all the friends who've gifted me with GW vouchers over the years... it's finally allowed me to pull the trigger on one of my dream acquisitions.
Good grief, what have I gotten myself into?

My friend @snowbringer.bsky.social has been working on the adventures of her OC Cattemage for a few years now, and lo, she's working on a new one now! So if you'd like to follow the story of a feline mage and her ghostly companion as they adventure through the world they live in, give it a look!
She's BACK.

I'm gonna be posting Cattemage daily at the patreon and then bundled so it can be perused in a together form.

(reminds self that done is better than perfect, especially with daily/fast comics...)

Because @matarakan.vshojo.com asked me to reshare it from the Twitch stream where she reacted to it, here are the images I submitted that she reacted to. Happy stream anniversary!
(And apologies for any roughness in the paint job, I was under a lot of time pressure, will touch it up later)

Periodically, I'll do a big splurge on my hobby purchases (usually to celebrate some kind of milestone, in this case my work contract being renewed). Woo?

Big thanks to Sunward Hobbies for the supply drop, love those folks!

Needed to take a walk tonight, and I'm glad I did. I really do love the city waterfront at night sometimes.

I'm not sure how I feel about this.
On the one hand, I think it's going to be a tough ask to find ways of telling interesting stories here that aren't just weird silliness.
On the other hand, the casting is about as good as you could ask.

Money is tight so I have opened commissions. $50 gets you a hand painted character- portrait or full body, it's up to you. The image will be delivered digitally as a png file or you can pay extra to have it shipped from Korea. ko-fi.com/jwvhewitt/co...

I kinda love these.

Hey #Nerdlings, think we should do something summer themed inspired by these guys?
the main lore thing about Warhammer Orks "Flash Gitz" units (besides their affinity for ridiculously heavy and baroque guns) is that they love the color yellow, and that other orks find them obnoxious. So I had to start sculpting some very tiny Hawaiian shirts. Happy summer from the Beach Gitz

Everything that Statuesque makes is absolutely wonderful, and if you like your miniatures cute and whimsical (but not without a bit of an edge to them!), then you might want to give them a look.
What happens when a cloth doll imagines herself and her faithful beanbag cat as daring, roguish adventurers?

A bit of a self-referential indulgence maybe, but I had fun designing them.

This is a really great novella! If your tastes in fantasy were heavily influenced by things like Labyrinth and Legend back in the day, this is what a more mature, developed take on what an expedition into a dangerous-fae-world-next-door story looks like.
And for that price? Treat yourself.
HWELLO and good morning! Catching up on 4 billion emails from a busy weekend BUT may I add that THE BUTCHER OF THE FOREST -- my novella about a rescue mission in a dangerous magical forest -- is ONE DOLLAR NINETY AND NINE today on Kindle and Kobo! In Canada, anyway.

Nicky is great. Hire her for your commissions. Hire her to illustrate your comics. Provide a game development grant to GearHead Caramel payable directly to Nicky so I can hire her to draw decent hair for all the characters. Help a cartoonist out!
