real takes about the episode: some of the stuff at the end was like pretty good on a scene level but made no fucking sense structurally as a story. i cannot believe russell out powerscaled moffat at essentialising a woman with otherwise no personality whatsoever the second she becomes a mother

I am having SOME thoughts and a half about motherhood and how Belinda stops existing except as the mother of her child in this episode
Wow I am angry as hell
(This is something that happened to me in real life and arggggggg)
Watching doctor who and I keep being pulled out of it by Poppy (who is cute but that is absolutely not how children her age behave, least of all in a crisis and in an unfamiliar environment)

My kingdom for a Belinda Chandra arc that didn't turn out to be a load of misogynistic bullshit

Saren and Benezia in particular. As a kid, Saren seemed more like just a context specific villain. As an adult, the fact that Saren is written in line with a broader "faux-pragmatic collaborationist worm" archetype that also appears in real life is a lot clearer
