Woooo a broken train at Oakleigh, when trains have already been disrupted by vandalism at Westall... And on the warmest day of the season thus far!

Our foster cats fell out at one point (took us weeks to make them besties again), so I was very concerned when I heard cats fighting outside my bedroom this evening...
...Turns out it was two other cats underneath the house having a barney. Our house is terrible for sound insulation 😅

Good on the Monash student protestors facing both this downpour and the police!
Wonder why Monash isn't keen on the students holding a referendum on arms dealing 🤔

Discworld QOTD, from Feet of Clay

“Men said things like "peace in our time" or "an empire that will last a thousand years," and less than half a lifetime later no one even remembered who they were, let alone what they had said or where the mob had buried their ashes.”
Discworld QOTD, from Moving Pictures

‘“Twas beauty killed the beast,” said the Dean, who liked to say things like that.

“No it wasn’t,” said the Chair. “It was splatting into the ground like that.”’
Discworld QOTD, from Unseen Academicals

“The Librarian was not familiar with love, which had always struck him as a bit ethereal and soppy, but kindness, on the other hand, was practical. You knew where you were with kindness, especially if you were holding a pie it had just given you.”

I remember watching this as a kid with my mum, and always wondered if anyone else remembered it...
On the 25th anniversary of the show @paranoidstylist.bsky.social uploaded his in-depth article on BUGS and its position as "an unacknowledged influence on a later generation of stylish, issue-led thriller series of the 2000s"

Screw your favourite book, which was the first that upset you?

I read The Fox Cub Bold and Fox's Feud out of order, and getting to the end of Fox's Feud where Bold is happily running off already knowing what awaited him... It broke something in me.

Thanks Colin Dann
Screw your favorite book, which was the first that upset you?

Lots of books from childhood onwards saddened me but it wasn’t until I read William Trevor’s Reading Turgenev, the great novella in this two-story collection, that I found real tears splashing on to the pages. Extraordinary.

Megathread of pro-trans petitions on Parliament’s petition website. If Labour suddenly gets hit with debates for a bunch of pro-trans petitions, maybe they’ll realise this issue isn’t going away and they’ve fucked up.

I’ll add more as I find them.
