This is why so many of us should have been listening to Black voices and learning far more about the history of racism in America.

All of that led us here. Fascism was already here for many others. And now it’s coming for the rest. If we had fought for others harder, we’d have prevented it.
I want to be clear: this is what American prisons are like.

I spent years posting about the humanitarian crisis in U.S. prisons. The criminal legal system consigns Americans who are incarcerated to live like this FOR YEARS. DECADES.
They held him like this for 100 days.

NEVER. STOP. BULLYING. BIGOTS.
“The frustration isn’t yet producing mass resignations or major internal protests, but the officers and agents described a workforce on edge, vilified by broad swaths of the public and bullied by Trump officials demanding more and more,” Nick Miroff writes.
Trump loves ICE. Its Workforce Has Never Been So Miserable.
A “mission impossible” deportation campaign has left many employees burned out and morally conflicted.

I just like to post these data from time to time to puncture the mythological aura of mid 20th c protests. They were less popular than pretty much any 21st c mass action & people criticizing them used the same lines. Protest is about people coming together, shaping narratives, & building power.

My god. 6 MILLION acres of public lands in Oregon, including the vast majority of our national forests, will be sold in a fire sale if the MAGA budget passes.

I haven’t seen nearly enough people talking about this.

The levels of greed and inhumane thinking on display is actually terrifying.

America really is dystopian as fuck.

Remember this iconic photo from Ferguson? This is Edward Crawford, throwing back a tear gas canister to protect some nearby kids.

Like many identified Ferguson protesters and organizers, he was "found dead" a couple years later and neither the cops nor the media will ever investigate.

Wrote this in the summer of 2020, definitely a good sign to be dusting it off now.

"Less lethal" weapons are tools of colonial occupation marketed to police, and tools of police marketed to colonial soldiers. Anti-civilian weapons more than "less-lethal" www.scientificamerican.com/article/what...

I was an immigration lawyer for about fifteen years. The people I met… the way they wanted to give their absolute best to this country, and then DID.

Skills, ideas, beauty, culture… that’s what they bring.

America is a nation of immigrants, and immigration is what made America.

Newsom and ambitious people like him want Americans to wait this out so that the power structure *as it currently exists* will be intact for them to grab when things “go back to normal.” Pushing back on power now would mean less power for them when it’s their turn. Real change is not their goal.
The federal government is taking over the California National Guard and deploying 2,000 soldiers in Los Angeles — not because there is a shortage of law enforcement, but because they want a spectacle.

Don't give them one.

Never use violence. Speak out peacefully.

There are ZERO riots. I am in downtown Los Angeles. There are live feeds of everything that was here and what went down in Paramount. Dudes on mini bikes making noise and people holding Fuck Ice signs etc. But no violence from protesters. None. Cannot say the same about the opposition.
Anyone saying, with any seriousness, that there is rioting in Los Angeles gets an immediate block.

Trust me, if LA was rioting, you would know.

As officials lay blame for what's happening in LA today, remember the provocations responsible were: invading neighborhoods, kidnapping loved ones, separating families, and trafficking people to foreign prisons. If the people you're blaming did not do these things, you're blaming the wrong people.

what bothers me most about so many dems is how they throw basic morality to the side whenever they want to prevent someone who is “too left” from getting anything done.

they’ll back racists, transphobes and predators. oil companies! anyone but a politician with actual good intentions.
