The problem with occasionally finishing a recurring, small editing job early is that I end up panicking on the due date whether I sent in the file 🙄 Every time. #AmEditing #edibuddies #BrainFogIsReal (I record the status so can check, but that doesn't save me from the few minutes of dread.)

Was in a nice editing flow when I got interrupted by a call. Couldn't understand enough Thai so ran around looking for someone to help ... but it turned out to be a wrong number 🙄 I really need to learn more Thai. #AmEditing

You don't have to "fix your accent" when public speaking in a second language. Media trainer Laura Shields @mediawhizz.bsky.social says:

1. Use words you can say comfortably
2. Tap out the rhythms

Extra yay for not telling people how to "correct" their accents! 🌟

Accent Anxiety: Public Speaking in a Second Language
Public speaking is scary enough. But doing it in a second language? That can be nerve-wracking. What if I mispronounce a word? Or use a word incorrectly? Do people understand me with my accent?…

Check out this @duke-university.bsky.social write up about my new work with my postdoc Esha Naidu (she is on the job market!) showing gestures reflect culture & identity—our nonverbal “accents” can shape interracial communication.

Is writing "comprised of" wrong? Like, "the book was comprised of three chapters" vs. "three chapters comprise the book." But "comprised of" has been in use for centuries and, while awkward, isn't entirely wrong. #AmLearning (1/2)

Can you use 'comprised of'?
It's been in use for centuries. So, maybe.
