One of three Tawny Frogmouths I encountered on a short walk down the Darwin esplanade last night. They were rather chill, allowing me to get this photo with my phone.

Good morning! Today’s cat is Spaghetti The Cat. He’s 9 years old, gigantic, and his brain is a mini meatball. He loves eating strings and drooling when you pet him. He’s jealous of his cat siblings and wants all the attentions. And I love him dearly.

I took this a few weeks ago.
I’ve seen White Bellied Sea Eagles take sea birds before. I think this is a Black Cormorant. Possibly a Muttonbird. They can become exhausted during migration.

Ok BlueSky: what are your favorite history books in terms of sheer page-turning, narrative propulsion? Thinking along the line of Killers of the Flower Moon, etc. Nonfiction chronicles that read like novels or movies.

one piece of advice I wish I listened to when I was younger is WEAR EAR PROTECTION if you're gonna be exposed to loud noises 🔊

I wasn't turbo stupid about it, but it honestly didn't take too many big booms without having earpro on that exposure to loud music/crowd cheers gets my ears actin' up 🐶🔔

Not “challenges”. They’re choices. 😡

i just read something about grief from C.S. Lewis and his book, “A Grief Observed”

basically, when someone you love dies, it isn’t just them that you miss, but the parts of yourself that person brought out of you that can never be brought out again.

i feel that with my dad.
