I tallied the number of court cases or legal challenges Alberta’s government has recently stepped in to block or pre-empt. Was surprised how long the exercise took - they’re at like a one-per-week clip:

Bratt vs Hislop: Is Smith "Ungoverning" Alberta?

@DuaneBratt and I started far apart, but in the end, agreed more than we disagreed.

What is indisputable for me? ABGov under @abdaniellesmith is a madhouse of ideology, incompetence, and culture wars.

Excellent read.

" Guilbeault is a standard-bearer for a great many Quebeckers who gave Mark Carney his slim minority government.

Taken as a package, it is “on the whole a very disappointing MOU that has a whole lot of backpedaling and climate delay,” wrote Sara Hastings-Simon"
Yesterday, a commenter piped up in a pipeline argument shared this newsletter and I would recommend reading it.

This REALLY ticks me off:
"Alberta will be exempt from clean electricity regulations without lifting its effective ban on renewable projects"

Controversial opinion: I think that political parties should have a consistent party line on fundamental questions of national unity. Allowing a separatist faction to grow in a federalist party (or vice versa) is asking for trouble, not only for your party but for the common good.

Is it time to make it illegal for politicians to lie to us?
That’s the question currently on the table in Wales, which has just released a draft of the “globally pioneering” sanctions for politicians.
