I love this so much and I am absolutely tearing up about it. The gentleness and plainness of this, the way he just lets her be her (and she seems so damn lovely, who wouldn’t?), the generosity.

It isn’t going to solve the world’s problems, but this kind of humanity is a hell of a start.

A thing I think we miss is that the “authoritarian playbook” isn’t a set of instructions authoritarians are reading from, it’s just a list of things that happen when narcissists get too much power.

Niemöller was a Nazi. He fought in the Freikorps. He was a willing participant in the Third Reich because he had sought and received assurances from Hitler himself that the Nazis would not go after Protestants. Then he ended up in a Camp. He was wrong. That’s why he wrote the poem.

I read this entire thread hoping that was a typo but it isn’t.

(Also Chuck Tingle would like y’all to know the asteroid sex in his books is entirely consensual and to stop tagging him.)
Just in: Texas' former solicitor general has left the AG's office amid sex misconduct allegations and a lawsuit outlining his apparent, months of detailed disclosures to colleagues about his sexual obsession with watching an asteroid anally rape the agency's No. 2 attorney in front of his kids.

Alexander Skarsgård in #Murderbot on Apple TV (cough cough) is absolutely divine. Like it's not a comedy, but it is a comedy. Forced to watch it before YT shorts spoilers meant that I may end up watching most of it in 3min increments

Took a class on the New South several years ago, and we spent a month reading about all the failures of unions to take hold because of racism. Just failure after failure after failure.

Also spent a class giggling about the STFU like the child I am, but the point remains.
This is LITERALLY how the American labor movement fell apart.

The south used to be a union STRONGHOLD until segregationists pointed at Black people and said “you really want Negros making the same as you?”

Racism is a CORE BELIEF that other races DESERVE their lot in life

In its official trending news section, X (formerly, Twitter) promoted a story with the headline “Iran Strikes Tel-Aviv with Heavy Missiles,” but it was fake — and it was created by X’s own AI chatbot, Grok.

That was a year ago. And we thought that was bad.
