A gentle AND firm reminder to not let Disabled people get left behind in the revolution. Mask up. Make accessible what you safely can. Hold space for those whose rest is less so a privilege and more so an involuntary confinement. Disability is intersectional and nondiscriminatory. Forget no[body].

I’m not going to tone police anyone; We are all angry and we should show it. But I am begging everyone to stop body shaming and being ableist towards harmful people. Be intolerant. Call out shit behavior. But don’t stoop to ableism, fatphobia, or body shaming. Stopping bullying includes you, too.

I want us to study the history of resistance to slave catchers right now. I want us to study how slave catchers worked, how they were sanctioned, who paid them, and why they did what they did, right now. I want us to study the hyperlocal and networked ways slave catchers were impeded. Right now.

While different, the treatment of Zelenskyy and the demand he be “grateful” for a bare minimum deal that did not actually serve Ukraine reminds me of people demanding Disabled people be “grateful” for bare minimum accommodations that aren’t actually accessible or designed with them involved/in mind.

If I ever catch anyone liking, happily sharing, or laughing at the White House post “asmr illegal alien deportation flight” it is ON SIGHT. That is some of the most HEINOUS slave catcher/master shit I’ve seen and it’s from the OFFICIAL PAGE. I am LIVID. Protect your neighbors. Protect the stranger.

Please keep in mind that many of your disabled friends likely need more accommodations now and in the coming days. AND many of your neighbors will BECOME disabled in the coming days. Don’t wait to educate yourself on how to not be useless.

The Trump Administration is hurting American farmers.

By freezing USDA conservation grants for farms and ending USAID, which buys 10-20% of the whole export market, Trump is taking direct aim at our farms.
USDA freezes farmer funding for some programs, conservation contracts
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has frozen some funding for farmers as it goes through a sweeping review, despite assurances from the Trump administration that programs helping farmers would not be affected in the government overhaul.

ASL interpreters who work in the arts (concerts, opera, theatre, etc) deserve to be valued as artists too. it takes so much skill to be this good at capturing the FEEL of music beyond just translating the meaning of the text and it’s an invaluable accessibility service
The ASL version of “Not Like Us” is magnificent.

If you still think they’re not going after Disabled people, you’re wrong.

There are several, critical communities this destroys. No working class citizen is spared here. I just needed to emphasize this point.
Trump's CFPB, now under the command of billionaire hedge fund manager Scott Bessent, has halted the Biden admin's rule to ban medical bills from credit reports.

It's been estimated that the rule would help improve the credit scores of 15 million people.

Some populist, huh?

Shout out to newly disabled folks: I was so disoriented for the first couple of years that I didn't know if I qualified as disabled. Lol. I thought maybe I had just suddenly become incompetent and whiny. 🙂‍↔️

Now I can't imagine life without this community. It is so relaxing to not explain yourself.

All of the so-called "patriots" who are cheering the felon's dismantling of DEI is indicative as to why it was needed in the first place.

That's right. There are people among us who never wanted women, the disabled, or people of color to have equal opportunities.

True story☕️

Still, I can't help but wish folks had cared when it was the Rest of Us in the crosshairs. I can't get over the idea that many were OK with us being attacked by the far right because "DEI."
