Coffee/soup/kitchen dance parties. Chickens sometimes. WNC. Listening.
I’d like to use 🦋 more but need to work at bringing more joy and levity into my feed. I set up Threads a couple summers back in the easy breezy days of teacher summer, and I set up Bluesky in, well, November. Different selves were at the wheel. Any tips on how to recalibrate my algorithm here?

This whole thread!
Every church I went to as a little kid smelled Like Church. It was a smell I only encountered at church. People will be like "that's wood" but I've been in places with a lot of wood and it's similar but distinct. It's the church smell.

Public library energy is the best energy. Like here is all the knowledge we could find, it's been meticulously organized and vetted and it will cost you nothing today, welcome to the absolute pinnacle of human civic evolution, feel free to pull up any bean bag chair you like

Saw Wicked today in our packed one-screen theater, sheer delight. My kid made these bracelets before we went.

Love this so so SO much.
You're not "late to the party" when you enjoy an old book for the first time. Books don't have an RSVP deadline. The party started long ago, and guests show up when they're meant to.

Location feels too broad, but for building I am pretty much always wishing I was at the Hotel Deucalion from the Nevermoor books.

Had a handful of homophobic/transphobic messages here today because I’ve created a Starter Pack supporting LGBTQIA+ writers.

Please follow and share this pack to help keep Bluesky the positive place it promises to be.

I would like to say it’s the work itself and not the vessel, but no, I’m really quite a Gollum about my first edition A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. My dad bought it for me when I was a teenager, after our library culled the raggedy old copy I’d been checking out at least yearly since I was 11.

I also have this superpower. I can’t explain it: I’m willing to suspend my disbelief in so many ways, but this I cannot abide.
My superpower is being able to spot every empty prop coffee cup in every single movie or show I watch and omg do I hate it

Here (on this app and in this world) to bulk up my wonder muscle!
people ask, “how can I recover my sense of wonder?” take an interest in things. visit art galleries, hit up the library and discover-browse. read widely. learn new languages, new words. watch old films. the world is a wonderful place but wonder is a muscle that must be cultivated like any other.

While I think it’s somewhat facile to criticize McDonald’s (I want to say: doing so seems classist, and also orthorexic, and also franchisees are small business owners too) – this quote still makes me feel soft and hopeful.
.
SOMETHING TO KEEP YOU OFF THE LEDGE:

"If you ever get the blues about the status of American culture, there are still more public libraries than there are McDonald's. During the worst of the Depression, not one public library closed its doors."

For real, the first thought that came to me was I’d just like to see Francie Nolan on her fire escape with her ice water and her peppermints and her book. (Since punishment for breaking the rules and considering other scenarios is unlikely, I may add more in the comments. ✨ )
If there was one scenario from a book you could see in real life, what would it be? 📚💙 #fantasybooksky #booksky

Hello out there!

Have really only dipped my toes in the waters of similar platforms. Maybe a longer wade here and there depending on my season. Just looking around at the moment!

Photo isn’t what I’m looking at this very minute but it’s an honest proxy.
