If you've ever spent a lot of love on the wrong person, it wasn't a waste. Everyone is a simulacrum inside us to some degree. You were exploring and reveling in the depth of your ability to love - period - which is a miracle in its own right. Reciprocity and longevity are nice but not the point.

As someone who once got locked up for volluntarily going to an emergency psych clinic, yeaaaaah.
Standardized procedures put in place to prevent self-harm, ostensibly to limit liability, seem almost purposefully designed to keep people from seeking help that they need.
