939, Berlin With all that’s going on, first a war, then a depression, and now a bigger war. It’s like the rapture is her to fulfill a self-fulfilling prophesy from the silly humans in this age. Zhe’ra was furious. Life these days was a chore. Even her lavender scented candles couldn’t keep up her morale. The measure of the leaders of today was «bah!» Some days she just wanted to ascend, to start a new life, or even just portal to another time. But she didn’t remember how she’d done it 400 years ago. She beat a slab of meat into submission and shaped it to a burger, a nice spice mix and some vegetables and that would do for a meal today. She’d make her way out of Germany tomorrow. She’d had it. 1503, London Zhe’ra had been in this age a week. Every night she had nightmares of what happened. The innkeeper had tried to get her to talk to a local priest, but she declined. Didn’t want to tangle herself up in any numinous matters here. Not that she was paranoid. She was just deeply remorseful for what had happened to Nerys. She missed her more than words could convey. This time though, was wonderful! In her time books were handwritten and copied, the printing press had made literature more available! And her hair and suddenly turned curly! She’d always had straight hair but now she sported curls! This age was so different from anything she’d known back in Shara. People were simpler - yet more aware. It was amazing! 1947 television Taking a sip of her tea, she watched the wonderful picture-box, the RCA 630TS she had purchased last month had finally been delivered. It felt like catharsis to finally get her hand on one. The outrage people had displayed when the device was out of stock in her region, laws broken as people tried to steal the display model. The police had come round after that, with their interrogative tone, trying to figure out what happened. Of course, she could still peer through portals - but those were two-way, so she risked being seen by the observed. This was a one-way setup. She could see news without worry! Liminal Through her years, Zhe’ra had watched the once so starry night sky gone dim. To her existential sorrow, humanity’s progress had wrangled nature into submission. She became a little shy for a while, nauseated with humanity after yet worse wars destroying the planet and seeming to be workings of the Dark One. Language kept evolving, the English she had learnt when she arrived here was not the English of today. To her, it seemed most of life was liminal. Neither here nor there, just a series of fleeting moments. Even her, filled with the one power of the Light, was changing. At around 900 years she now looked like a woman in her 50’s.
