Our #summers on the farm #involved attempts to climb one of the #hickory trees & shake the branches to make the nuts fall off. Grandpa provided us with a bucket that we could fill with the nuts, but it was never full until Dad got a machine that shook the trees for us.

In #reality he was just a #glimmer of his former #radient self. Gone were the sequined outfits & teddy bears of those days. Overweight & subscribed to the wrong stuff, he could barely stand much less sing. Still, his fans adored him even after his untimely death.

"Cold iron" is historically believed to repel, contain, or harm ghosts, fairies, witches, and other malevolent supernatural creatures. My first year of public school was in 1958. I can recall the flag having 48 stars since Alaska & Hawaii didn’t become states until 1959. The number of #stripes didn’t change. We still had the duck & cover exercises & the black shades on the windows. The Cold War wasn’t over yet.

His #goal was to get a #photo of a #leprechaun to prove they were real. After many failed attempts, he put on a leprechaun costume to try to coax one out. It worked. He finally got his photo, not realizing that it was of himself. He was the real leprechaun.

At the #height of the bridge game craze in the 60s our parents would have their club over on Saturday nights. Four card tables with four people at each table. We didn’t understand the talk of #suits, hearts, etc., and only knew that treats would be waiting for us in the kitchen.

When I was younger I hated my #emotions & hoped they’d #fade as I got older. The opposite has happened. They’re worse. I keep a box of tissues in every room and have stopped going to see movies in theaters. Dry eyes are no longer an issue.

I have no #issues with putting the rubbish #bins out early. Just make sure there aren’t any trash pandas #lurking in the hedges and waiting to make a mess of things. You’ll have to do the cleaning up it that happens.

We saw the 1970 horror film “Cry of the Banshee” at the drive-in movie theater. It was pretty much a standard witch-burning film that even Vincent Price couldn’t salvage. He was his usual excellent self, though. I’ve always felt that any film with him in it is worth a look.
