Not a growl or a bite,
It doesn’t like sunshine,
Only comes out at night,
It’s fed when it’s hungry,
Sometimes out of sorts,
A creature comprised,
Of my lie awake thoughts.

I jumped almost a foot last night
And had to cross myself
When I found, reaching for a book
A #creature on the #shelf.
I now regret the way I screamed
And swore, and startled it…
The creature seems to be quite tame
And almost literate.
