Father. Author. Poet, if you’d like to be generous. Athlete, a distant … 7th? Aspiring goofball. And we don’t have to talk about the rest.

Interact with me here or on my aging, old school blog: http://thealmostcrime.blogspot.com.

What shirt? This shirt! (Hint: the QR codes work … and if I’m wrong, the websites are www.books2read.com/thevisibilit... and www.books2read.com/sticksinthes...). Cheers, and THANKS FOR ASKING.
I found this is a book I wrote in … 2014? That I have gone back to edit and publish. Erie.

Cursor because I decided to capitalize things, but the words have been mine for at least a decade.

People don’t like to be persecuted for no reason? Weird.

I guess I shouldn’t talk. I’m not Hispanic, and the quote stank of speculation. Maybe if I was Hispanic, I would suddenly enjoy being persecuted for no reason.

Is it just me?

One eighty-four declined to say
Whether or not they’d go,
Six answered yes. The funny bit?
One person stated, “no.”

#poetry, and honest-to-goodness my chuckle was audible when I saw that no. That is funny, isn’t it? Isn’t it??“Look: I’m definitely not coming. Fuck ya’ll.” 😂

😅. That’s a relief.

Kurt Vonnegut is my personal GOAT, but the single most transformative piece of writing I have ever read has to be David Foster Wallace’s short story, “Shipping Out.”

Because of ”Shipping Out,” I chose to voluntarily brave the endnotes of Infinite Jest … while a college student … abroad in Rome.

Sweet. I could literally sit on my hands for the rest of december and my yearly step average would still eclipse last year’s by over a mile/day (+2,000).

Maybe I’ll do that.

I don’t need these hands for typing, do I? They’re already starting to tingle a bit.

Oh good. It’s a scrimmage, then? At least we’ll be able to log a W even if we also have to log a L.

I hope you find it as irreverent as it is self-deprecating, but in the end you learn something that you sort of already knew.

That seems to be human sociobiology is.

Dads know how to hang. 5 7. Am I right?

Burned some more midnight oil last night. I’m pretty sure I might be single-handedly responsible for the secondary extinction of the Stegosaurus. This time: their remnants.

(Science joke, anyone?)

I’d like the weather report in Kelvin today, please. Just need to hear a bigger number. You know?

Serious question, though 🙋‍♂️. Am I legally allowed to get this “cute” with the title page? It’s a first draft. Please take a look.

The magic I was practicing in my dream just now could accost you with bunnies, so you better not threaten me with carrot tops.

In other news: the #WIP I started over 12 years ago is on the cusp, and I’m talking title page and meta data. Specs coming soon my friends.

I think I just wrote a children’s picture book?

I won’t share it yet, in case I’m right. I’ll just give you the moral (after the dedication) and the first draft of the back cover.

“Go ahead and assume the worst of people… so long as you’re prepared to accept their best.”

Back cover, next post >>

A novelist was nearly finished with his epic saga, but his protagonist was thirsty and he couldn’t figure out how to get her to potable water.

Oh well.*

*You want to play? #authorsky, #aspiringgoofballs? Be my guest!
I once spent most of a day coming up with #puns about the kind of brick-lined dark cavernous space Johnny fell down.

You know, with water at the bottom?

Every once in a while I feel the urge to revive that little #wordplay experiment and see where it takes me.

But not today. I’m feeling unwell.

Every July and August I forget how hard it is to get my steps in December.

But I’m +3,000/days still as compared to last year. Time to stumble to the end…

So, I love Ms. McKinnon most places onscreen. I just feel like she asked me to suspend my disbelief on page one, after which I had to offer it paid sabbatical. My disbelief and I are no longer on speaking terms and I’m worried a severance package is in order.

Like, ground me in something not weird?

I don’t actually know if you can levy a tariff on Santa, POTUS? Seeing as he isn’t actually selling anything?

No, that is weird, that he’s not doing for his own monetary gain…

Oh, I understand your confusion. But I don’t think it’s a MAGA endorsement. I’m pretty sure he’s always worn red…

The moon looks so much like a silver dollar tonight I just want to pluck it from the sky and spend it on some soda pop.

You know how they say you burn more calories eating a celery stick than you derive from the actual celery?

Well, I’m pretty sure I burn more calories than I ingest trying to each peanut halves with chopsticks.

And yes, I’m aware how calorically dense peanuts are.

Or American?

I was wondering:
To suss out something that’s sus,
Must I be British?

Am I Right?

Interestingly
Saying that, “Choices were made,”
Means good choices weren’t.
