LEAD CHANGE: Katie Wilson is now ahead of Mayor Harrell by... 91 votes.

That's out of ≈270K!

Seattle counted roughly 39K ballots today, & they broke in favor of Wilson by 11.4%, erasing the entirety of the incumbent's lead.

SEATTLE!!!

We’ve now taken the lead by 91 votes! 🤯 This thing is certainly not over! Over 1,000 ballots have been challenged, so if you haven’t tracked your ballot yet get on it! Our trusty volunteers have been working hard to "cure" ballots so they count! We're so close!

“You dropped your ballot off at the last minute and you deserve every bit of this punishment, don’t you?” said Madame Payne as she approached a client tied up in a chair and lifted his chin with a punishment stick toward the results of the most recent ballot count.

We’re on the right track! Make sure you track your ballot to confirm it is accepted, NOT challenged. Check our links in bio to do so! More votes will be counted on Monday!

BOOM. Wilson closes the gap, with many more ballots left. This is a tremendous result for her.

She trails Harrell by just 1.9% and 4,300 votes. There are many more ballots remaining than at this point in the primary count.

Has your ballot been challenged? A significant number of ballots are in danger of not being counted. Don’t let your ballot be the one that tips the election to Harrell!

My take? @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social is still the favorite.

Until we have Thursday drop data (assuming it is election day dropbox data), we have no good reason to think otherwise, even if we do have reason to FEEL nervous.

As Redfin's Chief Economist, I love to see NYC voters addressing the economic causes of high rents. Proposals 2, 3 & 4 passed last night and will fast-track affordable housing, de-risking development. With a 1% vacancy rate, the mandate is clear: build.

“Harrell directed his city council staff to perform tasks for the Royal Esquire Club, which did not have secretarial support at the time … filling out insurance paperwork, collecting membership dues, drafting an event proposal, and contacting dozens of people … to invite them to club events.”
Harrell said through a spokesperson that he did nothing unethical, as the club was in his district, and council members are supposed to help constituents.

I agree, @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social appears to be an excellent choice for Seattle Mayor, and hopefully will be a badly needed creative “breath of fresh air” for the city. Seattle has always had so much more potential for creative city-making than it’s been able to realize so far. #VOTE
I’m partial to Seattle’s mayoral race as Seattle could become the model for the US in housing and 15-min cities

Really interesting article and important history to remember.

I also find it interesting that we found a way to cut sales taxes to spur the construction of offices for tech, but we haven’t yet eliminated sales taxes for the construction of housing.
