As always, extremely well done and informative content from Alanah. Please watch this *and* take a stroll through her channel, you'll learn a ton.
Here’s my breakdown of EA’s pending sale… to Saudi Arabia… and why this is much, much bigger than video games. I’m late to this from a ‘news’ perspective obviously, but it’s because I worked on this video for about a month.

Forgive the poor picture quality but I wanted to share this good omen with everyone.

There have not been ring-necked pheasants near this property for many years. Our rewilding is working.

Good things are happening. You just need to put in slow, steady, good-intentioned effort.

Low key, this is why I think you should send fan mail to the niche people you love and not huge people. Bts is gonna get thousands of letters, but that soundcloud rapper may go there entire career getting nothing.

Tell your niche favs you love them in a way that is not weird!!
The funniest thing about being A Person in a very niche microcommunity is that you suddenly realize that the people you think of as "famous" in other microcommunities are in the exact same boat as you

Systemic imposter syndrome "my niche is so unimportant I promise, unlike yours, SoundCloud rapper

I strongly recommend everyone do research sometimes 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘧𝘶𝘯.

Look something up on Wikipedia. Go to the little citation. Follow it. Read the article it's referencing. Follow links to the original interview. Read the paper written by the interviewee

It genuinely makes you appreciate journalism

hey guys I thought I was gonna get destroyed by reading my editor's comments but actually I feel like I could literally do anything

Is this. Actual constructive criticism helping you towards your goal? It's more likely than you think.

just as a tiny reminder, you can dislike something without phrasing things in a way that’s condescending and hurtful to people who do like that thing. subtly shaming people for liking something you don’t isn’t the move and isn’t the way to build yourself up

Up at 5am ( #5amwritersclub , #amediting ) writing a fourth email to my editor about the absolute shitshow of scattered edits I have planned for this manuscript.

Can't ever keep them all in one place, even when I try to (collected from phone notes, three notebooks, and a doc [and my brain]).

A poem I wrote after reading Megan Falley's poem about grief after losing Andrea Gibson. It is moving, and resonated with me deeply.

The grief from losing a spouse, or child or parent, is not the same as the grief of losing physical ability, but the words still rang true to me.

The trick is learning how to tie another length of rope to it every time you get to the "end" of your rope.
I'm at the beginning of my rope. I'm doing great.

Any #booksky or #writingcommunity recommendations for new/recent tradpub and indie LOW and/or GRITTY FANTASY?

I love involved world building, character-driven narratives, and interesting magic systems ("magic with a cost", especially).

i want you to take the words that come to you like a bolt of lightning and write them down. i am so serious. it does not matter when and what they are. let them out. novels and poetry start as single lines.
