I wrote an email to an author I like, not expecting to get a response, and he emailed me back like six hours later and was very chill and willing to share a story/tip. It is always worth it to send a letter of appreciation/ask a question! Most people are happy to respond.

The price tag being so high (and continuing to balloon) makes me think the bunker is getting an overhaul/extension/re-fortification and the ballroom is just the roof/"cover".
