Every year around this time, I ask folks to consider doing something in support of Native people. This year, please join me in supporting the Native Organizers Alliance as they build grassroots power, defend Native voting rights, and equip our people for collective struggle through skill-building.

I really want cis folks to understand the situation - trans women face widespread employment discrimination and live in devastating poverty.

Meanwhile, the woman who came in fifth place in a swimming competition, ONCE, makes a million+ a year to advocate for destroying our rights.
If Riley's doing speeches 40 times a year, assuming breaks, she'd be making between $600,000 and $999,960 a year pre-tax. She's a fucking millionaire who has made her entire career of harassing a singular trans woman into exile. I legit thought Lia Thomas was dead until she did a recent interview.

When I was living as a gay boy, I wanted to be a villainess. As a trans woman, I’ve instead begun to identify with heroines. Someday I will make enough sense of this to write something about it.

Seeing these two side by side really drives the transmisogny of longlegs and weapons home for me. Like no, my love and I are not crazy, these dudebro filmmakers are 100 percent marshaling trans panic tropes even if they have no idea they’re doing it. (The films’ narratives further support this).

I haven’t listened to Dar Williams in over a decade, but I just tried this new track and …. Am puzzled about the decision to release a song about olive trees and democracy in 2025 that says nothing abt / has nothing to do w/ Palestine

God I hate those care react emojis over at what Mariame Kaba calls fedbook. They make me feel completely pitied and “othered” which I don’t think is most of my friends’ intention. If tangible care isn’t available (can’t buy groceries with an emoji), I’d usually much rather see anger.

Plz vote for us before 9 PM central today as AMERICAS GREATEST COUPLE—I hate these data mining/fundraising schemes, *but it would be lovely to see trans and caregiving stories represented amongst the finalists, and the prize would make a big difference for us!

Vote for Brandon Will as America's Favorite Couple!
One couple will appear in an advertorial in Variety and take home $20,000.

I used to do this. JDI is inviting folks to write holiday cards to incarcerated people. It's simple: you sign up and they send you cards to write: justdetention.org/woh/ - perfect for people who are homebound.

call out NB fragility for what it is. In no way does centering medical transitioners (some of whom *are NB) in the fight for the right to medically transition, or trans women in the fight against State forces specifically organized around transmisogyny, erase your ID or throw you under any bus.

Do the people mad at Jules Gill-Peterson actually WANT medical pathologization to be a prerequisite for our freedom when there’s a superior argument, and actually BELIEVE that their gender was installed inside them by God or SCIENCE like the ONE RING they must quest to discover ? Gross.

As a college educated and formerly middle class / now financially precarious person who agonized over my identity for yrs while most aware of the kind of sex I wanted to have in a female body, I’ll only add that JGP uplifting in her other work poor folks who’ve transitioned for pleasure delights me
Any focus on the immiseration of trans people always already holds the fantasies+desires of the poor w/in its scope, incl. the poor+nonbinary.

A person whose housing + food + water is not at stake IS able to think abt self-actualization more—it doesn't rob the poor of agency to name that.

As a trans woman who grew up (very!) poor

+declared a trans nonbinary identity only once I felt $ecure enough to do so

security that, in turn, made medical transition much more possible for me

I find much of value in JGP's Baffler piece + a notable lack of generosity in many of yr readings!
