Sure would be a shame if a bunch of PhDs who suddenly have a lot of time on their hands due to no grant writing or reviewing spent all that energy calling and writing their elected officials every single fucking day

Hands down the hardest part about developmental editing for academics is how much thinking it takes to really understand someone's ideas, evaluate their merit, strengths and weaknesses, and then writing truly constructive feedback to help the author grow as a scholar.

People can be so creative in holding on to wordiness. 🤔

But some students dive down a thesaurus rabbit hole and end up with a fancified but equally wordy:
