Based on the reactions of a lot of people, during Covid restrictions, they'd rather risk illness and death than miss out on a latte. It's only a matter of time before another pandemic comes a calling. I think, when that happens, governments won't be as strict on mitigations due to likely backlash.
Deadlier than COVID-19, some fear bird flu could become the next global threat
Epidemiologists are keeping a close eye on the H5 bird flu strains that are present in parts of the world.

The Tasmanian Government has known for years that they needed to replace the breast screening bus but procrastinated. Preoccupied with a stupid bloody stadium. A permanent clinic will be better in Huonville rather than Kingston. If the permanent clinics ever happen. All $ needed for the stadium now.
Aging breast screening bus only retired after staff get electric shocks
Tasmania's health department was aware a 32-year-old breast cancer screening bus was unsafe for years, but continued operating it up until two staff suffered electric shocks.

Timely. Given the Tasmanian context. Improving the educational attainment of all Tasmanians will have the greatest economic and equity outcome than any other investment over the long term. Ever. #politas

Certainly won't be built in three years. Five years seems more likely. Possibly longer. If you are looking at purchasing your first home, under $750k, do it soon. The stamp duty waiver expires 30 June 2026. I doubt it will be extended. #politas
'Fair assumption': Devils boss warns debut in new stadium could suffer delay
The Tasmania Devils CEO says the club will likely play in the AFL from existing venues for a year longer than expected, while awaiting construction of the Macquarie Point stadium.

Taxpayers treated like mugs for a Big Sport stadium stitch-up — while Tasmanians don't matter at all
Tasmanian politicians are going to blow $1.1 billion on a stadium that will return less than half that in benefits, in a state with urgent health and education needs. It's testament to the malignant p...

Those brave MLCs/MHAs who spoke against the stadium and based their decisions on evidence and expert advice, along with input from their constituents will go down in history as heroes. Those who supported it will live to regret it and will be remembered for sending Tasmania bankrupt.

In Tasmania people are homeless, they are lining up at City Mission for food packages, they are sleeping in cars. Try telling them they should be excited about a stadium or the Foo Fighters!😡

The cost will inevitably breach the $875M cap, the federal government won't come to the rescue, funding won't come from anywhere else, and the Tasmanian taxpayers will be coughing up again. Ms. Thomas will come to regret her decision. #politas
Hobart's Macquarie Point stadium project set to pass Tasmanian parliament
