I love living in the Netherlands but goddamn you know you've gone too far when you did something so racist that it upsets regional dutch government officials

Extremely British to have something that looks obviously wrong and fucked up in a very important context and yet for them to still insist it's like that on purpose

battlefield 2 is by extension a political game because of its implications based on the factions or where the game's maps are set - why did the MEC form, why are the US invading MEC, why are the US invading china. even stuff like "why does the PLA and MEC AT class have a french rocket launcher"

this especially applies to games made in or set in the post-9/11 world. anything related to the terrorism and brown people moral panic is that. cod4's both enemy factions have political motivations sewn through them, especially the russian ultranationalists

by extension every war related game that references real states or organizations is political. it doesn't neccessarily have to mention events or ideologies bc the development has certainly been influenced by the sociopolitical state of the world at the time, even if it's historical

"Let's assume the author's issue is that generative AI is used instead of hiring human actors." Exactly. It's normal to apply your personal ethics to the media you engage with. It's also clearly drawn by the critic, allowing you to easily disagree. That's a good review.

crazy how much this bugs me now that someone pointed it out. if i worked at the white house, i would find this ugly, but not as annoying as i do now. ignorance is really bliss bc they more you learn, the more you just walk around thinking "collar gap" and "kerning is off."
