I love the covers for the new editions of Agnes Owens' novels, which I think all use Joan Eardley paintings.

Agnes Owens is wonderful. The forgotten figure from those writing groups in Glasgow led by Philip Hobsbaum that included Jim Kelman, Jeff Torrington, Alasdair Gray, and Liz Lochhead.
Saw her at an event with Kelman in Edinburgh once where she challenged his literary takes, & silenced him.

Same in the UK.

I'm not big on eulogising, especially not politicians, but watching Zelensky eat that dullards shit is possibly the bravest, most noble thing I have ever seen.

Deeply shocked by Israel’s deliberate killing of the Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif, his colleague Mohammed Qreiqeh and cameramen Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal and Moamen Aliwa. Israel has now killed at least 186 journalists in this war.
