Gen. Charles Brown, a four-star fighter pilot known as C.Q., is to be replaced by a retired 3-star Air Force general, John Caine, who endeared himself to the president when they met in Iraq six years ago

Trump Fires Joint Chiefs Chairman Amid Turmoil at Pentagon
The decision to fire Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr. reflects the president’s insistence that the military’s leadership is too mired in diversity issues and has lost sight of its combat role.

Dear Democratic Party: why are you not screaming this from every rooftop? Why are you not holding press conferences with these poor fired people - putting a face on what the richest man is destroying?
“The thing that I can’t get over is that the actual richest man in the world directed my fucking firing. I make $50k a year and work to keep drinking water safe. The richest man in the world decided that was an expense too great for the American taxpayer.”
Yesterday many thousands of federal employees were terminated. This is a Reddit thread for federal employees that got laid off.

Worth noting that McConnell refusing to whip votes to convict Trump at his impeachment trial (or vote himself to convict) is *why* we’re now in a position where a trade war with our allies could happen. If McConnell is looking for the person at fault, he might want to consult a mirror.
Mitch McConnell: Tariffs "will drive the cost of everything up. In other words, it will be paid for by American consumers. I mean, why would you want to get in a fight with your allies over this?"

Call your Senators, Republican or Democrat. Their offices need to feel this chaos too!

Call the Capitol Switchboard (202) 224-3121 and ask for your Senator.

Elon Musk biographer here.

The "missing context" from the op-ed below is that Musk has been spreading racist and antisemitic memes, screenshots, graphs, charts, unsourced narratives, tropes, and buzzwords for 18 months now.

Publicly. Daily.

The Post either knows this or should not be in business.

Donald Trump nominated Pete Hegseth, Tulsi Gabbard and Kash Patel because he wants to show Republicans that he is the boss. That he can strip them of their dignity by making them support terrible nominees.

Senate Republicans may be in the majority, but Trump controls them. That is the story.

to recap:
— Trump was *for* the TikTok ban
— which the GOP Congress passed
— and the GOP Supreme Court upheld
— and even though Biden said he wouldn't enforce the ban, TikTok shut down anyway
— so that Trump could "save" it
— and the media fell for it
we really do live in the dumbest fucking country

People not elected to government should not have the power to reshape the government, especially people whose obscene wealth depends on the government functioning a certain way.

This is not a hot take.

It's just plain common sense.

“We only publish opinions our billionaire owner likes, and only after making sure they don’t contain anything the regime-aligned plutocrats might find objectionable” sounds dystopian - only it’s not an imagined future or alternative reality, it’s where we are.

Quite the “fourth estate” we have.

Here's a curious one: As recently as Tuesday, Lindsey Graham told journalists that the recent reporting on Hegseth has been “very disturbing,” adding that the allegations will be “difficult” to overcome.

One day later, he brushed off the allegations.

What changed between Tuesday and Wednesday?
Graham: The allegations against Hegseth are all anonymous sources. I’m not going to make any decision based on an anonymous source. If you are not willing to raise your hand under oath to make the accusation, it doesn't count.
