Going into the 6th day of the most relentless flu I’ve ever experienced; chills every night, fatigue and headache that won’t quit, just an absolute prolonged mess. But I finally saw M3GAN, so there’s that.

Film you've seen more than six times. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LotR or Marvel.

(UHF would be the easy answer, but this one introduced me to non-grail Python. I taped it off TV and it cut off 10 mins before the end, but I still watched it 100x. Has some cringe, but holds up otherwise.)

Time is a social construct, which means I left all my birthday gifts wrapped and the pint of ice cream in the freezer for another day.

The flu may have torched my day, but it will not ruin my birthday…we’re just gonna take the ball down the field a bit.

Today I learned that I share a birthday with the late great Peter Tomarken, which I think is pretty rad.

Not sure why, but the highlight of his run on Press Your Luck for me was when someone accidentally broke their buzzer, and he referred to it as a “broken schmegegge”.

We’re recording our 250th episode this weekend and it’ll be a special Q&A episode! Now’s your chance to ask us your burning questions that you’ve been wondering - about board games, 10 years podcasting, life, the universe, anything!

I lurk in a lot of “deadmall” Facebook groups; small but active followings for forgotten bits of media. And somehow, this has taught their algorithm to repeatedly suggest posts where people try to make sense of the plot holes in Back to the Future.

Spare no sympathy for me, I did this to myself.

In two years, Flip the Table will have been cancelled for 10; and yet, people still listen!

They’re raising my hosting fees next year, I should do a pledge drive for my cancelled podcast! 😆

As of today, I’ve officially been in hearing aids long enough to order a second pair.

Made a night and day difference in my life, especially at a younger age where people around me tended to assume “absent minded” vs “hearing loss.”

If you have signs of hearing loss, I’d encourage 2 things. (1/2)

The World Wide Wrestling TTRPG beautifully illustrates the difference between playing to achieve an objective and playing to forward a story. And I think the key is knowing the outcome ahead of time.

You win, you lose, collaborate to make this satisfying. Now all your decisions are about character.

Goddamnit this dude is outing us! You're not supposed to TELL people metal guitarists sound like an episode of Spongebob without effects 😂

Fun fact: Thanks to the movie “Ernest Goes To Camp”, I thought it was called “Paper Rock Scissors” until I was 25.
Rock Paper Scissors should really be called Scissors Paper Rock.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love Deck Building? I count 9 unique DBGs in my collection that I consider forever keepers. 1st wave stuff like Dominion, Ascension, DC, Star Realms and oddballs like Pixel Lincoln and Video Vortex. If I’m not playing those, I’m likely playing Balatro or Inscryption.

I like a lot of Cryptozoic games, and I love MST3K; but I’m not there yet with the board game kickstarter.

The Apples to Apples formula makes sense for this game, and I appreciate they are trying to evolve the formula. But I need more gameplay for $50 (minimum); the card count seems light to me.

I somehow got pushed to the “Popular With Friends” tab for some indeterminate amount of time, which explains why I was seeing mostly current events and not the “Look at this old Harry Anderson special LOL” I’m used to.

For my retro game buddies: does anybody know of a good iOS implementation of the old Macintosh “Daleks” game, where you try to get them to crash into each other or into debris on the field before they bump into you? I used to have an off brand one with the same gameplay, but it is lost to time.

4 pudding pies made, thanksgiving prep complete. Do we need 4 pudding pies for six people, two of whom are children? Listen, I don’t make the rules, I just make the pies.

I’m thinking about updating my dress clothes; where do people go for good quality men’s shirts these days? I’ve always gone to Penny’s, but I’m thinking I need like one or two Real Good Shirts.

I finished @blippo.plus over the weekend, and I loved every minute of the journey. It’s a high effort love letter to television which manages to blend irony with total sincerity. Funny as hell, super engaging, exactly zero gameplay. Buy it. blippo.plus

Just me browsing the Pizza Hut menu a good 20 hours before not bothering to cook tomorrow. I haven’t had a good stuffed crust in a hot minute, bout time I crushed one on my own.
