If they started a Criterion Collection for board games, The Networks by @gil.hova.net would be one of the first selected.

The question isn’t “do I buy this game a third time”, it’s “do I add the expansion bundle, too.”
The Networks: Primetime (@gil.hova.net, @allplay.bsky.social) is a new edition of one of the very best drafting games. This season is sharper, wittier, faster, and fully deserving of a return to the limelight.

Honestly the more I wrestle the more I see overlaps with every moment in life.

Getting critiques? That's just heat- you need it as a baby face.

You get a tiny task accomplished that you've been putting off in the middle of a depressive period? Hope spot.

It's such a smooth life overlay lol

I hear this song for the first time today, and my life was irrevocably changed.

There are now two distinct periods in my history: “Pre Yo Yo” and “Post Yo Yo”.

Thanks to my pal Diana by way of my pal @slomotionwalter.tgifarcade.com for fundamentally altering me.

Local con is this weekend, and I’ve been trying to tweak my setup for Pixel Lincoln (a first wave Deck Builder) to resemble EDH. One of each equipment and enemy, and backfill a few empty slots with cheap card draws and enemies that drop stuff. I’m hoping this can just be my permanent setup.

This cereal reminds me of the cartoon with the same name, which came out in the year right before NBC just gave up on cartoons entirely and went to live action Saved By The Bell clones.

ProStars walked so California Dreams could run. For like, a couple years.
Pro Stars (1984-circa 1992): Billed as a "healthier" breakfast option, this cereal, marketed by hockey star, Wayne Gretzky, featured little whole grain star-shaped pieces, sweetened with "a touch of honey" (and also Nutrasweet). Sold primarily in Canada. Did anyone win that breakfast?

If it didn’t say “Kelloggs” at the top, this cereal could easily be mistaken for a generic on name alone.

I think wrestling fans of a certain age are broadly aware of Cyndi Lauper’s connection to wrestling; but until today I had never seen video of Cyndi absolutely owning Albano and Piper with a loaded purse, and I gotta tell you it was exactly what I needed today.

The other day @slomotionwalter.tgifarcade.com introduced me to this music video by Magazine 60. I’m pretty sure he hasn’t played Blippo+ yet, and he still somehow managed to find the most Blippo+ music video that wasn’t actually in Blippo+.

It heartens me to know that late night horror hosts still exist, especially at the local level. Especially since I basically missed the entire first wave of that phenomenon.

Heck, the fact that there is still local, broadcast TV in this world outside of local news is a bright spot.

I tried this tonight, and it took a couple skips, but I discovered a couple pretty radical (and fairly recent) heavy metal videos; which was my favorite thing to do circa 2004 when I was DVRing Headbangers Ball.

I’ve thoroughly reviewed the rules of The Keymaster. Initial impressions:

Drenched in theme, has echoes of Atmosfear without being a pastiche (the look is closer to Beyond the Gates), and I’m intrigued by the balance of ladder climbing and keeping the lights on.

Our local con in 2 weeks is one of those where every game is rigorously scheduled in advance.

I’m thrilled to have filled up my table for Pixel Lincoln, a 1st wave Deckbuilder that was pushing the boundaries of the format before it was cool. OOP, but not forgotten. boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/12...

I’d say I was successful with this. In 2025, I started going to the local game meetup again on the regular, I filled my winter convention time with more games instead of panels and shows, and I even joined a Wednesday trivia night late in the year that I’ve really enjoyed. It’s a good feeling.
My New Year’s resolution: Play more board games.

I genuinely feel a desire to reconnect with board games after spending less time with them the past few years. It’s part of the reason I decided to stop side hustling…to try to reallocate some of that precious hobby time.
