On this day in 1901, Governor General Lord Minto held a skating party on the Ottawa River where Bessie Blair fell through the ice. Henry Harper attempted to rescue her but both died. His friend William Lyon Mackenzie King commissioned the statue Sir Galahad to honour his friend.

Love this old Guinness advert mural of the old Crown Flour Mills cart entrance on Washington Street in Glasgow. It's beeb painted on the wooden board which covers it, and you can still see the ghost signs for the mill above it.
