Do not get a pet for your kid for Christmas if you're not going to be a forever home. There are vet bills, the cost of healthy food, walks, play time, etc. It is a 10-20 yr commitment. Study breeds, make sure you can handle it and be able to provide a safe, secure, warm environment.
