Yesterday I had to explain to a male coworker the bear vs man trend from a couple of months ago.
He hadn't heard of it. After a few minutes of explanation he got it and agreed lol

higher ed is the largest employer in 10 states and in over 60% of the 100 largest cities. destruction of federal research funds is economic sabotage.
Research universities are often the largest employers in their region. They are often the primary health care providers to communities. This funding shift will not only reduce US research leadership, it will put working people out of work and reduce healthcare access.
Excellent 🧵 on this evening's NIH announcement of a dramatic reduction in indirect rates for research institutions, which amounts to a generational restructuring of the US research and development ecosystem. These cuts are effective immediately, not just for new grants but for existing ones.

Disability is not a moral failing. Health is never a guarantee.

Instead of judging those who are sick, help them. Fight for better social supports. Wear a mask. Push back on ableism. Give to mutual aid.

Give help freely & without strings and don’t make people beg.

Your 'leverage as a consumer' is really quite limited when you absolutely must take a drug in order to not die.

Whether this is insulin for type 1 diabetes, thryoid hormone replacement or ARVs for HIV.

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

The thing to understand about Trump is like in his first term, he doesn’t want to govern. He doesn’t want to learn. He wants to campaign and look good.

Republicans know this. So there are battles going on right now to take control of the actual process of governing.

"Was Bishop Mariann Budde right to call for the protection of migrants and LGBTQ kids at the National Prayer Service?"

Yes, she's allowed to talk about Christ's teachings at a church service. Next question.

Also, while we’re on the subject of Yarvin, what that guy offers is the most half-assed plagiarism of last fascistic ideologies and all these tech bros eat it up like it’s manna.

There’s a lesson here: the authoritarians we’re dealing with are lazy, unimaginative, and incurious.
