What's interesting about this trend for book marketing AI companies—who secure £Xmil in seed funding, get a write-up in the Bookseller, and will now wither away, leaving only a slime trail of AI generated goop across the surface of culture—is mainly what it says about capital’s engagement with books

Exciting news! Re-recording the audiobooks of my first three novels started today, so if you’re a new follower and you like your books in your ears, stay tuned! Fab new narrator btw, I think he will absolutely nail the Banktoun vibe ☺️

My son says he wants to be a writer. To prepare him, I’ve made him redo his homework 9 times, then told him ‘I’m sorry but I can’t work out how to market this’ and thrown it out the window.

This.
When I get asked this question, I usually answer that I write every day but I don't type every day. Because writing is so much more than typing.
I did a podcast interview yesterday and they asked me do I write every day. I said no, partly because of work/family & sometimes I go for weeks and months without ‘writing’ - but I am always thinking about it. So when I do get typing time, I make the most of it.

Good morning everyone. I quite thought it was Friday. Off to sort out Mum but first here’s my review of The Party Season by @susiholliday.bsky.social out from Hodder. This one might make you reconsider attending any parties next month! lindasbookbag.com/2023/11/01/t... 📚❤️

"No other city provides a better backdrop for a good fictional killing than London" - we have to agree!

Brilliant to see @davidfennell.bsky.social - who premiered his latest book 'The Silent Man' at Capital Crime 2023 - featured in the Daily Express 👏👏 #crimewriters

Great article by David Barnett about the British horror revival. And not just because my brilliant uber nerd wife @jamieleenardone.bsky.social contributes to it …

As the brilliant Sarah Pinborough has just pointed out, it’s going to be 25degrees & glorious sunshine this Saturday in Gerrards Cross.

A fact that makes Chiltern Kills Crime-Writing Festival (a) blessed by the Autumn gods; and (b) the last big blow out of ‘summer’!

You can’t possibly miss this!!

I’ll just drop this here. Ahem… for those seeking something suitably gothic for spooky season.

Witchcraft, unquiet souls, a haunted harp, a wicked governess, a monstrous mechanical music box and an old dark house…
Do you dare to unlock Fyneshade and it’s secrets?

Last night I dreamt I was going to a small crime festival on an island accessible by a bridge at low tide - but as we walked over it became apparent the tide was high and we had to swim the last bit, fully clothed, in the dark. Then we just went in and did our events. Stay tuned for part 2.
