Tomorrow will be a Thursday with no WTF podcast. I can't get my brain around that.

Fiona and I play a game on washday. I strip the bed and drape the sheets around her and say, Where's Fiona? I can't find her! It never gets old. We laugh and laugh.

Guys, I love all of you, but the answer to RFK, Jr. is not that autistic adults hold jobs, pay taxes, and get laid, it's that everyone deserves to live even if they can't work, pay taxes, or get laid.

Just a reminder: having a functional moral compass right now is going to make you feel bad all the time; don’t mistakenly hate yourself for that.

Today I lost an NIH grant training clinicians to do research about intimate partner violence with perinatal women.

More women are murdered in the perinatal period than die of obstetric complications.

I didn't just lose a grant. We lost an entire cohort of people building careers to prevent that.

An entire sea cannot sink a ship unless the water gets inside of the ship. The same with the negativity of the world: it can’t bring you down unless you let it get inside of you. We cannot control what happens around us, but we can control our reaction to it. May your day be peaceful, my friends. 😊

Being a historian, people ask me if I think the US is living through Germany 1933.

I answer no, analogies are always imperfect but to me it feels more like Russia 1999: a blatant theft of state assets and liberals in a fugue state, refusing to believe the arc of progress is bending against them.

When the big picture seems overwhelming, focus on local issues. PA HB 109 would require the PA Department of Environmental Protection to impose additional requirements on permitting requests in environmental justice areas. PA residents -- call your state rep.

The same way they profit off of education privatization… health care… etc…

They count on you not realizing it. You are their piggy bank.

They're calling the July 4, 2026 celebration the semiquincentennial. Half of 500 years. Instead of fireworks, we'll continue this dumpster fire. Instead of parades, a bobsled run to hell in our handbaskets. No need to plan ahead for the sesquimillenial or whatever the fuck comes next. We're done.

This survey includes personal details to use when calling your elected representatives. Knowing that @fetterman.senate.gov has a tattoo for every murder that occurred while he was mayor of Braddock, I told him he doesn't have room on his body to tattoo all the deaths he & his colleagues are causing.
