I just cannot fathom why the leadership of the #BBC is deliberately prostrating itself before people who have said repeatedly and publicly that they intend to bring it down.

Farage is telling it straight - he couldn't be clearer. The less well off will be exploited for their low paid labour, will not see their taxes go down and will see cuts in services they rely on. The rich on the other hand ...
YOUNG PEOPLE. LISTEN UP.
Today Nigel Farage said the government should cut the minimum wage for young people
...to “raise aspiration” and “boost business"
It's £10ph FFS!
Lower your pay so you’ll dream bigger

Central London is surprisingly peaceful. Remarkably little traffic noise, just the frequent planes and an occasional siren.

Walked past a barbers last night. Young lad in there (13, maybe?) with perm curlers in the top section of his hair, cotton wool wadding round the edges. Didn't know perms for boys was a thing until I looked it up. Well, well - my last perm was circa 1990.

The buses bill also became law this week, allowing councils in England to finally take control of local services used by millions of people.
Almost nothing from No 10 or Govt Comms as a whole. It's beyond woeful.
Meanwhile Reform are holding multiple press conferences a week.

Great read from @iandunt.bsky.social on whether Starmer should stay or go, including the mystery of how, if you’re launching a popular climate, energy, and growth strategy, why wouldn’t you stage a press conference on it?

In 2012 when I first put solarPV on my roof, wind and solar generated less than 7% of UK electricity generation. Gas and coal were 69%. So far in 2025, wind and solar have generated 39% of UK demand. Gas (there's no coal) is down to 29%. It's very good to see :-). grid.iamkate.com

Absolutely right. Question is whether a naturally cautious person can become instinctively bold. I fear not.

'The measure may be thought bold, but I am of the opinion the boldest are the safest.'

We went to Edinburgh to see www.nationalgalleries.org/exhibition/a... Made it into a mini-break, spending ~£400 on hotels, buses, eating out, other ad-hoc tickets and bits of spending. Just one tiny example of the economic multiplier effect of art and culture. Don't get that with an AI data centre.
