1️⃣ Elections: If this is really about voter fraud, will a licence with a citizenship marker become the only ID at the polls? Other IDs exist, and licences take a decade to turn over. You still couldn’t reliably tell citizens from non-citizens until ~2036.

Step 1. Announce arbitrary tariffs for each country
Step 2. When markets crash, pause those tariffs and say they're just leverage for deals
Step 3. Promise deals
Step 4. Fail to make deals
Step 5. Announce arbitrary tariffs for each country

...and yes, I find it hard to keep my cool, sometimes.

There's a whole lot less to these announcements of new factory openings than meets the eye, but to see why, you've got to understand the dynamics of firm creation and destruction, our new political economy, and the incentives facing CEOs.

Reducing copyright length, eliminating patents, cancelling contracts with Musk, making US-owned companies ineligible for public sector procurements - even U.S. origin labelling rules.

In responding, we have many non-tariff options, because this isn't really a trade war - it's a shakedown.
What if our tariff response was:

1) make a point of not matching tariffs and say "if you want to raise prices on your people that's your business";
2) cancel every Trump trademark and Musk contract;
3) say we may choose to curtail energy and potash exports if they continue this unlawful trade war.

Re-upping this. It’s not about fentanyl, at least not for Canada.

This is about bullying a smaller neighbour into being the “51st state”.

It’s the end of a longstanding friendship across countries and peoples. There will be no return to how things were after this act of aggression.
43 pounds.

That’s how much fentanyl was seized at the Can/US border last year.

The moment of immediate crisis has been put off (Canada isn't being hit with 25% tariffs today).

But our underlying vulnerability remains. This should be a wakeup call. Canada needs to focus on three things, all of which will take time to build or rebuild:

- Economy
- Culture
- Military
