Suspect we'll hear rather a lot less about this today than we did when it was was people protesting against catastrophic climate change, rather than the right to hang onto their multimillion pound inheritances
Ok tractors are blocking ambulances in central London now by Waterloo. Not deliberately, but it's having an impact

A Ba'athist, a Stalinist and an anti Semite walk into a bar. The barman says Stop the War's memorial for Assadism is upstairs.

Seen lots of these posts go viral. The Ruble is losing value, but the Dollar has been gaining value compared to all other major currencies. Dollar Vs every currency looks something like this. People need to stop with the misinformation, the Russian economy isn't about to collapse (unfortunately)
The Russian ruble in freefall — having breached the 100 barrier despite a 20% interest rate — is a beautiful sight to see.

Actually, money is important to civilisation, but only as a means to an ends. The ends is supposed to be a better life, however the capitalist/neoliberal worldview has replaced the ends with the means. An improving stock market =\= improving living standards for all. This is the critical disconnect.
What you see around you is the product of extreme Capitalism, only money is important, people, the environment.. the entire planet isn't.

The craziest thing of all is that money isn't real.

It only has value because people believe it does.

The 'left' has effectively lost the battle for this specific space online, causing a notable shift to the right and several successful right wing elections in the West. There is no simple answer to this as we are in uncharted waters. Two key points 1) how it happened and 2) how it can be tackled.🧵
as a meathead who hangs out in mma gyms a lot i see how much the right has co-opted things like combat sports, weight lifting, nutrition etc when really these things were mostly politically neutral even like 10/15 years ago.

It is embarrassing when someone only cares about something that affects them. I'm X so I fight purely against the injustices that affects X. It's egotistical and narcissistic behaviour when it becomes their entire persona. You have to care about more than yourself.

People want Bluesky to be a safe space, not an open forum. The culture war will turn into a siege. Bluesky has great potential and there are #feeds if you want to get away from stuff. But ultimately we cannot become the mother of all echo chambers and wonder why fascists continue to get elected

This isn't good, actually. We need to hear voices and opinions that run counter to our own.

A small levy on every internet service as an access charge should be the future funding model for the BBC.
Important article & analysis/exchanges below. I’d only add that it makes the case for protecting the BBC - and for the BBC to work to deserve our protection - all the stronger.
If you are running a click-driven non-paywalled news website without a super smart niche it’s so over. The traffic isn’t coming back.

Everyone agrees that echo chambers are bad. So how do we stop Bluesky exacerbating this problem? Shall this become another silo of ideas, further detached from the outsider's reality?
