I am enraged at @schumer.senate.gov and I certainly hope Michigan’s @peters.senate.gov votes NO on the CR.

Thanks to @slotkin.senate.gov for her commitment to vote NO!

These Senators have vowed to vote NO on tomorrow's CR. Please thank them for standing against Trump and Musk and standing strong for us.

If your Dem Senator is not yet on this list, please apply pressure!

It's always good to provide links to claims you make. Here's the affidavit describing the pregnant wife:

Another day, another example of Elon Musk's massive conflicts of interest. This time he's cutting the agency responsible for roadway safety — right as they’re investigating his company. Pretty convenient!

DOGE has announced a total of 45 Social Security field office closures--so far.

SSA has 1,200 field offices where people can receive in-person help getting benefits, updating records, enrolling in Medicare & more.

They served 30M applicants & beneficiaries in 2023 — nearly 120K *per day*.

Chilling read. My brother Rollo Romig, a reporter who covered the rise of the autocratic Modi regime in India, has made similar comparisons.

A new administration’s efforts to pressure the news media, punish political opponents and tame the nation’s tycoons evoke the early days of President Vladimir V. Putin’s reign in Russia.

Fun fact for fed followers:

Telling Congress about illegality, waste & corruption is protected by the 1st Amendment. Retaliation is against the law, which covers “any disclosure to Congress (including any cmte of Congress) by any employee of an agency."

I just want to highlight @kathleenromig.bsky.social’s quote here: Over two-thirds of the agency’s staff serve the public directly.

The imagined cuts would so fundamentally change the work that the SSA does and the services it can provide.

These agencies *are* efficient.
The annual $1.6 trillion in Social Security benefits represents 21% of federal spending and 40% of older adults income. It lifts more people out of poverty than any other govt program. 69 million Americans depend on it and at some point we all will
We asked @kathleenromig.bsky.social about the cuts.

Now confirmed: The Trump Administration will cut *7,000* staff from the Social Security Administration. That's enormous. See my thread below for what it means.

🚨 TL;DR: The Trump Admin's staff purge at Social Security will be equivalent to a government shutdown EVERY SINGLE DAY. 🚨
I'm seeing conflicting reports about imminent staff purges at the Social Security Admin.

Here's what we know: The Trump Admin instructed each agency to plan for large-scale layoffs, starting with employees furloughed during gov shutdowns. What would that mean for SSA?

It’s not cute to accidentally cancel Ebola prevention — a virus with a 50% fatality rate.

It’s even less acceptable when it turns out you didn’t “restore” the prevention for Ebola like you claimed.
Elon Musk: "We will make mistakes. We won't be perfect ... so for example, with USAID, one of the things we accidentally canceled very briefly was ebola prevention."

Answer to Vance: Zelenskyy has thanked our country over and over again both privately and publicly.
And our country thanks HIM and the Ukrainian patriots who have stood up to a dictator, buried their own & stopped Putin from marching right into the rest of Europe. Shame on you.

100% of his salary is paid by WA state.
