I established the Great Lakes Oil Spill Center of Expertise because, when it comes to protecting the Great Lakes, we must prepare for anything.

That’s why I’m pleased to see the Center has 8 important projects lined up to improve oil spill response.

FCC Commissioner Gomez is right. This FCC’s unprecedented threats against broadcasters are already suppressing free speech by sending the message that media companies hosting content critical of the President will invite government retaliation. That is censorship and not what America stands for.
December 22, 2025 at 4:02 PM
Free speech is fundamental to our country. When the FCC threatens to revoke media licenses just because the President gets offended, it’s a direct attack on Americans’ First Amendment right.

President Trump must comply with the law and its deadline to release all the Epstein files.

The victims of Jeffrey Epstein deserve justice, and the country deserves transparency and accountability.

My heart goes out to the families of U.S. personnel who were killed by ISIS in Syria last weekend. I am saddened to learn that Ayad Mansoor Sakat, a Michigander serving as an interpreter, was among them.

I send my deepest condolences to their loved ones as we honor their brave service.

The Senate has passed bipartisan legislation led by Ranking Member @peters.senate.gov that will help simplify the application process for disaster victims seeking federal assistance. Currently, individuals seeking aid must complete a complex process that can take months to complete.

I condemn the vile antisemitic crime targeted at MSU's Chabad Jewish Center. This hatred has no place in Michigan or anywhere else.

My thoughts are with the Jewish community and the MSU campus during this time that should be filled with light not hate. www.lansingstatejournal.com/story/news/l...
Police investigating swastika painted on Jewish Center at MSU as hate crime
The swastika appeared on the Jewish Center on Albert Street in recent days, East Lansing police said.

This Administration thinks acting in the “public interest” means acting in “Trump’s interest.”

The FCC Chair shouldn’t threaten free speech over content the President doesn’t like. That’s not what we do in a democracy.
PETERS: Will you commit you will not move to revoke any license for broadcasters or retaliate against companies merely for hosting content critical of POTUS?

CARR: Any broadcaster that complies with the public interest standard is not in any risk

P: And you get to determine the public interest

This is simply going in the wrong direction. We should work to strengthen VA health care for veterans and their families, not eliminate tens of thousands of positions needed to deliver the quality, timely care our veterans have earned.

Michigan LCV has been an invaluable partner throughout my career. Together, we’ve made incredible progress to protect our environment and the health of all Michiganders.

I was honored receive their Lifetime Achievement Award, and I’m proud to fight alongside them in the Senate.

I'm deeply disturbed and saddened by the hateful attack in Sydney. My heart goes out to the victims and their loved ones, and I'm wishing the entire Jewish community peace and joy as folks gather to celebrate the start of Hanukkah today following this horrific attack.

Michiganders are bearing the costs of Trump’s cuts to health care and Republicans’ refusal to address the health care affordability crisis. We must extend the Affordable Care Act premium subsidies to give Americans some financial relief right now.

Secretary Hegseth needs to stop roadblocking Congress on these boat strikes in the Caribbean. Senators from both parties are demanding transparency. The American people deserve to know exactly what happened and why.

@kim.senate.gov represents the good people of New Jersey with unwavering dedication. Congratulations on your first year in the Senate!
On my 1 year anniversary in the Senate, I reflect on what it means to be both a caregiver and a United States Senator.

As I begin my own personal caregiving journey, I promise to fight for the care this country deserves, as I would for my own loved ones.

Dr. Brown is right – our commitment to veterans must go beyond just a 'thank you.' It's about showing up to make sure they get the benefits they earned, like health care, workforce opportunities, and a dignified burial. We should all be behind that.

I support investigations into the boat strikes in the Caribbean. If it is true that Secretary Hegseth or others gave an illegal order, they need to be held accountable.

As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, I’ll keep pushing to get answers. The buck stops with Hegseth.

Michiganders are facing higher costs and the Trump Admin’s denial of disaster relief is now driving up their electricity prices even more.

Federal assistance eases the burden on communities when disasters strike. These denials are a betrayal to Michiganders who need help.
