@peters.senate.gov
U.S. Senator proudly representing the State of Michigan. 🏍️
50 years ago, the Edmund Fitzgerald and all 29 of her crew were lost to Lake Superior. @klobuchar.senate.gov and I are introducing a resolution to help honor their memory and ensure their legend lives on.

My statement on opposing the funding proposal:

Trump's Administration could release the full SNAP funding currently available right now. Yet, he has fought it every step of the way. Hungry children should not be penalized as we keep working to reopen the government.

It's a very simple compromise: Protect existing health care credits, end the shutdown.

We must take action on rising costs for families who are shopping for their health care right now, and we can end this shutdown.

I am proposing a very simple deal to reopen the government:

- Include a one-year clean extension of the current health care tax credits to immediately address Americans’ rising costs.
- Create a bipartisan committee that will continue negotiations on reforms ahead of next year’s enrollment period

Wishing Speaker Emerita Pelosi all the best in her retirement. Americans may never know what your leadership has meant to our democracy. I am grateful to have seen it firsthand as we got things done, from protecting consumers after the ‘08 crash to expanding access to health care. Thank you.

Trump’s overhaul of the East Wing raises questions about a “pay-to-play” scheme that involves government contracts and preferential treatment for private donors.

We need answers.
Ranking Member @peters.senate.gov is demanding that President Trump provide answers about the construction of his $300 million ballroom – backed by groups and private donors seeking preferential treatment.

Access to health care is an issue that impacts all of us. We need both parties coming together in good faith if we want to address the growing health care crisis in our country.

Here’s the reality people are facing with health care plans.

Thanks to Republican’s inaction, monthly bills are going through the roof. That’s why it is critical that we do not cut critical health care credits and exacerbate the rising health care costs caused by Republican’s Big Ugly Bill.

If your neighbor’s home was burglarized, you’d want to know - information sharing keeps everyone safer.

Ranking Member @peters.senate.gov spoke with the McCrary Institute about his bipartisan bill that requires critical infrastructure entities to report ransomware payments and cyberattacks.

I was at Lighthouse in Pontiac today seeing the local impact of the current lapse in SNAP benefits.

Especially when higher prices are already making it harder for folks to put food on the table, the Trump Administration must release all of the available funding for SNAP.

The Pentagon is failing to keep servicemembers and their families safe from toxic PFAS exposure by delaying clean up at 6 military sites in Michigan.

@slotkin.senate.gov and I are demanding that Secretary Hegseth take accountability for this negligence.
Ranking Member @peters.senate.gov and @slotkin.senate.gov are urging Secretary Hegseth to address the Pentagon's failure to protect military communities impacted by toxic PFAS contamination. Servicemembers and their families deserve answers.

Health care is a fundamental right. I stand ready to come to the table with my Republican colleagues to ensure Americans have access to quality, affordable health care coverage this year.

Hey Michigan 👋 if you get your health insurance from healthcare.gov, you can now visit that site to see how much health care plans will cost next year. Michigan’s open enrollment period for health care starts this Saturday, Nov. 1, but you can start comparing rates today.

We need to ensure a seamless transition between Selfridge’s retiring A-10s and the incoming F-15EX fighter jets. As a member of the Armed Services Committee, I’m fighting to help minimize this gap, which would threaten our national security and undermine our fighter fleet.

NEW: I am requesting that Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Inspector General open an investigation into DHS’s reported contract to purchase two luxury private jets for Secretary Kristi Noem’s personal use, totaling up to $200 million.

The Trump Administration is withholding Michiganders' food assistance for political gain, while doing nothing to reopen the government or address the growing health care affordability crisis in this country.

Trump’s economic policies are taking us in the wrong direction for lowering costs.

I’m leading a bill to ensure our service members and federal employees get the pay they have missed so far due to the shutdown. People need to pay their bills now. Simple as that.

I encourage my colleagues to get behind it as we work to address the health care crisis and end this shutdown.

I fought tooth-and-nail to pass the Affordable Care Act when I first came to Congress.

I won't stand by now as Republicans rip health care away from millions of Americans. We must ensure families can access health care.

I’m proud to lead a commonsense bill to not only improve our ability to quickly detect and respond to hazardous pipeline leaks, but also stop spills from ever happening in the first place.

Republicans’ inaction is allowing health care costs to continue to go up for millions of Americans.

And with President Trump’s Big Ugly Bill making it even harder for folks to access health care, we need a plan to bring those costs down. I stand ready to find a bipartisan path forward.
