I think there is a real loss in Twitter now being utterly and completely useless during real time events.
It was one of the first times in history, ordinary, average people could contribute to the historical record about an event they were experiencing, w/o gatekeepers to shape the narrative.

In English getting straight down to things is “cutting to the chase.” A German equivalent is mit der Tür ins Haus fallen, or “falling with the door into the house.” But my favourite phrase for getting to the point is the Swedish pang på rödbetan. It means “bang on the beetroot”
