Melburnian blogging about movies at www.cuttothechaseblog.com & writing a novel for fun. Thoughts my own & unrelated to my employer.
Whyyyyy have iPhone live photos started loading into WhatsApp as videos rather than a static image? And my research indicates there’s no easy way to stop this. It sucks!

the ABC having a world famous group who had just finished a tv show in america, make show for them that was so successful the abc bragged about it, then cancelling it for no good reason should have led to investigations into abc management

props to Donna for helping other talent where abc fails to

Aunty Donna take a big risk talking like this. Good on them. Their shows might not be up everyone’s alley, but what show is?!

My dear friend Zac Petit wrote this wonderful piece in @fastcompany.com about the Swiss Guard’s flamboyant uniforms—and why Vatican guards are called “Swiss.” Great read, definitely recommend:

I admire and respect Margaret and David as much as the next person, but isn't it depressing they've been off air for a decade and they're still the only public face of criticism in Australia?

Good piece from Debi Enker about our broken Oz content rules, sabotaged by the Morrison Government and still not fixed by Labor. Taxpayers who subsidise Australian drama production often can't see the results, screening only behind paywalls.
Australia is making great TV right now. Too bad it’s all behind paywalls.
Jacob Elordi has a show on Amazon Prime. Scrublands’ new season is on Stan. A new Liane Moriarty adaptation is on Binge. Should Aussie drama really cost audiences this much?

Melburnians, do not be surprised by this weather! It has been the case for as long as I can remember that the weather for the duration of #MICF can go either way. I’ve attended late run shows in coat & scarf and in a sun dress. (Not both same day… you know what I mean!)

Am I crazy or is the #AFL tipping a lot of money and effort into promoting the #GatherRound which seems very much at odds with the fact there’s not a single game being broadcast on free to air TV today?!

I just saw a bit of Urvi Went To An All Girls’ School via Gogglebox & it looks funny & I plan to catch up on iview but are we really supposed to buy that a woman comfortably in her 30s is a high school student? Or is that part of the gag? It’s impossible to ignore.

Ads for Cassandra Fernando, the ALP candidate for the seat of Holt are *constantly* being fed to me on TV streaming platforms. I don’t live in Holt. Not even nearby. Wonder what the ad spend is and what proportion is going down the toilet.

Thanks for helping other people to understand eating for health, and all the nuances people deal with. Any person who publicly or privately comments on a stranger’s body is an oaf. Love that frock! (alt text on original post.)
I was a guest on Weekend today on Ch9 this morning. I know people aren’t used to seeing anything other than stick thin on TV… but my body is my body, not my qualification or business card.

Props to Today for knowing I’m fat & trusting me anyway. “Oscar” can get in the bin.
