Thing I just learned in #rstats: unz() lets you connect to a .zip and load files from inside it without actually unzipping it (great for a file I'm working with that's 30 MB zipped and 1+ GB unzipped, with multiple CSVs in it)

"Let’s state this plainly: a sitting Canadian premier says she asked our enemy... to alter policy in order to help elect a... candidate who is better aligned with that enemy of the country."

I'm with Bruce: illegal or not, we can't treat this as politics-as-usual.

Bruce Arthur: Trump administration is Canada’s enemy, even if Alberta’s premier sees it as a friend
Danielle Smith might argue that the United States is not the biggest threat to Canada’s existence in its recent history, but the rest of us must have a clearer view

I made a backup of the `data` repo. I suggest if you need 538 stuff grab it while you can ASAP:

Please enjoy my last ever post at Climate.gov/ENSO Blog. This afternoon I was fired by the Trump Administration 15 days before my 2yr probationary period ended on March 13.
I have worked at NOAA since 2010, and I'm so incredibly proud of the work I did. If anyone wants a quote, let me know.
Predicting El Niño and La Niña is tough, but new research analyzing 20+ years of forecasts finds dynamical models outperform statistical ones, especially for El Niño. La Niña onset? That's been much harder. Read more in our new ENSO blog post! www.climate.gov/news-feature...

Tesla stock is down 25% so far this year after dipping 8% yesterday. It's become humiliating to drive a Tesla in LA, and he's getting his ass kicked by China. I love this journey for Elon because there's still so much lower the stock can go. I believe in us!

The headline that 21 DOGE staffers have resigned is a little misleading. These were employees of the United States Digital Service, which existed pre-administration and was absorbed into Musk’s team. These aren’t the young idiots; these are actual civil servants.
