Originally, the Kentucky Derby was run at the beginning of CD's spring meet & the Oaks was carded toward the end. That difference enabled multiple fillies to compete in both. Five fillies tried the Derby & then went on to win the Oaks. Read more at TwinSpires!

I got the notice today that Aqueduct will have no training, let alone racing, on Thanksgiving.
I know it's best for the horsemen and the employees, but watching the Fall Highweight Handicap then having Thanksgiving dinner was a tradition unlike any other.
