Shutting down the government is a big deal. People have been hurt in big ways as a result of the decision. To have that suffering be for nothing—to re-open the government without actually having protected people’s health insurance and economic well-being—is unconscionable.

Asked google about "pro football games this weekend", according to google AI Overview, there are no pro games scheduled this weekend & the "season is not in full swing at this time." It claims the most recent game was Jags/Chiefs & missed Thursday's Eagles/Giants game. WTF. @noethematt.bsky.social

This is NOT a distraction. This is execution of this fascist regime’s plan.
As you watch the extraordinary spectacle of Trump's government attempting to deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Uganda, let's not lose sight of just how lawless and indefensible Trump's misconduct has been all throughout.

Here's a thread recapping all of it. 1/

The adamant elite refusal to call bullshit is a big part of How We Got Here.

The prevailing cultural attitude for years is you must not, under any circumstances, treat anything as bad faith. You are obligated to find some reasonable idea and engage with that, even if you distort to get there.

imo a big problem right now is the fetishism for proper procedure that grips so many left-of-center elites, which leads them to believe that the only way to resist is lawsuits. sooner or later someone must realize that you have to simply refuse (or give a countermanding order) and face trump down

One of the things that has pretty annoying is that if you have any kind of bullshit meter, if you have anything inside of yourself that doesn’t enjoy being lied to, the last couple of years of almost every area of public life have been driving you up a fucking wall
