Now that the Sept and Oct data are (belatedly) in, it looks like 2025 will be the second warmest year in the record (~80% probability). The last three years are in a class of their own.

It's being an extraordinary warm November in Europe where hundreds of records have fallen from West to East from South to North.
The exception is Italy,which is also the only country worldwide which hasn' t broken a single heat record in the whole season and is not expected to do so

I thoroughly believe in celebrating the small victories, so here is a tiny one.
The percentage of humanity's energy system that is derived from fossil fuels, ticked down again in 2024 and is now technically at the lowest level since the 1960s, though fossil fuels still dominate.

After polluting the water of 350,000+ people in Italy for decades, the Miteni factory (closed in 2018) was dismantled… and rebuilt in India!
