One of my father's older friends was a WWII vet. Got caught in a grenade explosion which collapsed his chest. A medic did a hail mary and transplanted in a dead soldier's sternum.
It was still in there, not-rejected, 30 years later.

Been seeing @affirmationcoyote.bsky.social post a lot about persistence is resistance. This piece was partially a vent in response to my inner desires to just stop, fall over and let life blow past. It's been so damn hard not to give up on everything.
