#MakeGoodTrouble
Pinned
Enough with the portentous Death of Democracy whinging.

Enough with filling out your Autocracy Bingo Cards.

Enough with mournfully quoting Hanna Arendt.

Get together, get active, organize, #MakeGoodTrouble, fundraise, lobby, litigate, protest and fight back.
Also a time where we might take time to suggest that we could:

* Write governor, secretary of state, and state legislators to make it illegal DHS interfere with election processes.

* Write your senators and rep to make that the law on the federal level.

What do you have to lose?
Bluesky is that special place where someone will take time out from serialposting about how ICE can never defeat one mid sized midwesern city to post about how ICE is going to commandeer every voting booth in the US and all is lost

1/Mass movements have toppled authoritarian regimes more competent and scarier than the idiots in charge.

We should learn from and be inspired by them, rather than obsess over Nazi analogies. We have agency. We are not trapped in a historical narrative.

We have work to do, but we can win, damnit.
This is one reason I keep trying to remind people of the power that we have. That we have *always* had. Not because I’m in denial, but because I know history. I’m no sophisticated intellectual, but I do know we’re going to win even though the bad shit is really terrible right now.
Too many people on Bluesky think that relentless expressions of despair are a sign of intellectual sophistication.

NEW: Letitia James, the New York attorney general, announced that her office will deploy "legal observers" to document ICE activity in NY.

Her office says the effort is the first of its kind by an AG.

"Okay I get that," Meg whispered back, "but I've been angry for over a decade straight and my arteries are basically solid carbon fiber at this point. Do I ever get a freakin' break?"

Not mentioned:

You can mold the number of an ICE reporting hotline onto a whistle.

e.g., the whistles distributed by the county Democratic party have the number of the Portland Immigrants Rights Coalition on them.
So TL;DR, it costs us 1.5 cents per 3D printed whistle (approximately) in filament and electric costs, compared to about 6 for drop shipping; we're more nimble with a distributed network, and also, they can't just seize our whistles off the ship and stop the whole thing; and we pay less in shipping.

I watched the first episode of Wonder Man the other day.

Clues that we're in the MCU are subtle, right up to the last scene.

I like how they portray Simon as a good actor, and highly personable, who just lacks a little humility.

This vote buys time, not solutions. The fight is now squarely on DHS and Republicans are on their back foot. Democrats have less than two weeks to press their advantage — they must hold the line and refuse to fund DHS without ironclad limits on ICE and CBP.
