•There were just enough defections among the Dem senators to break the filibuster.

•None of these senators face an election in 2026.

This "compromise" seems rather scripted.

In 2019, Rence Priebus—who was near age 50—requested an enlistment-age waiver and joined the Navy Reserves.

Nothing is stopping Tuberville, Rubio, Cruz—and others who are so deeply committed to military invasions of other countries— from making similar request.
Tuberville heard the name of the country and was immediately in favor of fighting it

The US House of Representatives is in recess for the Epsteinth consecutive week.
Today, Mike Johnson will keep the House adjourned for the 91st day out of the last 103.

12 days of work in 103 days.

With full pay and benefits.

The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown.

It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.

These people are loathsome ghouls.
The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

What if McCain had voted "Yes" on the 2017 repeal, and the GOP actually had to DO something about health care. (Something instead of complaining about ACA, that is).
The Republicans have been promising a specific plan as an alternative to Obamacare ever since it passed in 2010. The promise is 15 1/2 years old now. That's probably why they don't seem very sincerely interested in it.
November 2, 2025 at 8:36 PM
I think the phase they are in is now this:

"We're having water-cooler discussions about scheduling brainstorming workshops to develop concepts of a plan."
Mike Johnson talks about the Republican "healthcare plan" like it's highly classified information: "We're not gonna be on a conference call explaining all our plans and strategies for healthcare reform, because they're leaked in real time."
