One thing that annoys me about this is having self-professed progressives go on about "the girls are fighting"--it's two grown-ass white men having a childish spat and throwing public tantrums that will have very real collateral casualties, and the misogyny in calling them girls always escapes them.

It’s nice how baseball season basically serves as a differentiator between the good months and the bad months.

Baseball is great because it's fun and lyrical and sad and beautiful and all sorts of other things, and then just when you're about to get a little too earnest about it, you remember there's a guy in it who we all call the Big Dumper.

Happy Opening Day, folks - we made it.

St. Patrick’s Day is tomorrow and it reminds of how so much of the celebration stems from both Irish resistance during British occupation and Celtic cultural perseverance even after Christian conversion. People kept their identity and spirit, even through famine and oppression. It’s a good reminder

Some people will find this controversial, and they should ask themselves why they do:

It doesn’t matter if I think someone protesting is inaccurate or annoying or hateful in their opinions. I could despise them and their dumbass takes, and I’d still defend their First Amendment rights.

How long until the Library of Congress faces a purge? Should historians be getting what resources they can now? I'm imagining anything related to the civil rights movement, anti-fascism, and even public health could be gone soon.
