The executive is usurping a core Article I function, this should be treated with the same amount of alarm as if he declared he's disbanding Congress, because that's functionally what he's doing/done

The People have the right to choose their own leaders. This is not, actually, a right that only exists once every four years!

Demand that he be removed from office and prosecuted! When Republicans refuse, go around shouting about how they've abdicated their duty to the People!

If the U.S. military isn't going to release details on the justification for killing 11 civilians in a civilian boat who weren't posing a threat to anyone, then we have to conclude the "justification" is: the U.S. military is willing to kill civilians to give Trump social media content.
Trump confirms U.S. strike on alleged Venezuelan drug boat
President Trump says the U.S. military has struck a drug-laden vessel in the southern Caribbean after it left Venezuela. The strike comes a week after Washington deployed warships to the region.

That Pritzker press conference was... surreal, and I think marks a significant moment of escalation in the constitutional omni-crisis. This was the governor of a state saying plainly the Union itself is being torn apart and his state is being militarily invaded by an authoritarian regime.

Right, Congress and the courts are now advisory bodies. When they act in a way the executive agrees with, they are used to lend legitimacy to the appearance of democracy; when they don't, they're ignored
The treatment of the TikTok ban might seem silly, but it is, effectively, a sign that the constitutional government we have operated under for more than 200 years is no longer in effect.

Read the thread.
NEW: In letters to companies with app stores, AG Pam Bondi purported to be "irrevocably relinquishing any claims" against them — Apple, plus Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and T-Mobile — for violating the TikTok ban. This is so, per Bondi, b/c Trump said it's OK, despite contrary language in the law.

If the government’s position is that being trafficked to El Salvador by Donald Trump and Stephen Miller amounts to a final and irreversible deprivation of all rights, then it seems to me every federal court has a duty to permanently enjoin the practice as soon as it possibly can.

This week Trump hung a copy of the Declaration in the Oval Office. I doubt he's read it, but if he has, he seems to be using it as a checklist, rather than to understand why the Revolution happened in the first place.

Seeing folks on the other site claim that Alien Enemy Act removals are not reviewable by courts.

The statute explicitly requires "a full examination and hearing," and there are literally *dozens* of reported cases from the War of 1812, World War I, and World War II:

Passing this CR is putting a bandaid on a bullet wound while the gunmen are still shooting. You can even make an argument that it could be worth it! But if you vote for a partisan GOP CR loaded with poison pills when the president is promising to impound it, what exactly are you doing?
